Mini Music Makers is an introduction to music making for children aged five to seven. Beginner instrumental tuition is available for oboe, bassoon, French horn and double bass at the Endangered Species Centre.
The instrumental workshops are for string, woodwind, brass and percussion players who have been learning for about six months up to about Grade 2 standard (Silver Music Medal). They can then transfer to the String Orchestra or Concert Band. Once players have gone beyond Grade 4 (Platinum Music Medal) they may audition for the Centre for Wind and Percussion or the Orchestral Centre.
Voice Works is a choir for children aged seven to twelve.
All the classes include complementary activities to develop musicianship and a deeper understanding of music. All pupils in the instrumental workshops and Voice Works, attend a vocal workshop from 10.00 to 10.45. Members of the String Orchestra and Concert Band can also attend vocal workshop or can opt for other projects to develop their musical skills, including Practical Musicianship, Ceilidh Band and Stage band. Practical Musicianship is the ideal preparation for the Grade 5 Theory course. |
