Arts Projects for Schools

We first work with schools to define what ingredients a quality project will have in order to contribute to the development of young people.  We then provide a service in putting together project providers and schools.  The launch of the Cultural Olympiad means this is an important area for development.

The Croydon Music and Arts Performance and Projects Officer would be pleased to hear from any potential project providers who would like to be added to our database.  We shall also be creating a database of project funders.

In addition we provide Sound Experience live music demonstrations in schools with our instrumental staff.  For example, for key stage 1 we offer ‘Seaside’ and ‘Special People – people who help us’.  Based on themes from the key stage 1 curriculum, infant pupils are introduced to a family of instruments with a live musician and interactive DVD, which are then performed as an accompaniment to a story based on the theme. They are then guided in using classroom instruments to make up their own music based on the theme.

Schools will be notified when a specific project is available.
