Centre for Endangered Species
Saturdays, 9.45am – 10.45am at
There may also be weekday after school classes in another area of Croydon
Oboe, bassoon, French horn and double bass pupils have traditionally had a lonely time in the first years of learning, but by coming together for lessons at the Centre for Endangered Species they can now experience the same enjoyment of learning together which pupils of other instruments have. The Centre performs informally and takes part in other CMS concerts, and has performed in the annual Youth Music Showcase Concert at Fairfield Halls.
The course is for one year, after which pupils will be offered paired lessons, and can also join a music service ensemble. Lessons are normally 60 minutes in length, depending on the number of pupils in the group, and fees are charged the same as group tuition in schools, with a discount for pupils eligible for free school meals. A different fee structure applies to those who do not attend Croydon maintained schools.
Instruments are provided, and for pupils learning at the Centre for Endangered Species the hire fee will be waived for the year. Where the pupil then joins a CMS ensemble the instrument hire fee will continue to be waived. Parents / carers are recommended to use this concession to save towards the purchase of an instrument at a later date To register an interest to receive details of when and where the next classes will start, plus an application form, please contact CMS. |
