Fees and Notice Fees are payable in advance when you receive an invoice. We guarantee to offer 30 lessons throughout the 38 week academic year. If the lessons offered fall below this due to teacher absence, a credit will be given at the end of the academic year. No credit or refund will be due for pupil absence or for unplanned school closures (for example due to adverse weather), though teachers will try to rearrange lessons where possible if given plenty of notice of a pupil's planned absence.
Notice to stop lessons should be given in writing to the CMS office by 1st March to stop at the end of the Spring Term, 1st July to stop at the end of the Summer Term, or 1st November to stop at the end of the Autumn Term.
Continuing lessons cannot be guaranteed if pupils are withdrawn from lessons for a temporary period, e.g. lessons are available during GCSE periods and pupils are expected to attend during study leave.
In some schools fees are payable directly to CMS. In some schools CMS charges the school and the school will invoice you for lessons. In both cases CMS offers an 80% discount for pupils eligible for Free School Meals in Croydon maintained schools. Some schools will offer additional help with fees, for example for those taking GCSE music. Where CMS invoices parents / carers directly, the fees (from September 2007) are:
For pupils in Croydon Local Authority maintained schools Group Tuition (G) £52.50 per 10 lessons (Group lessons are 3 or 4 for 30 minutes, 2 for 20 minutes if no suitable group of 3 or 4) Paired Tuition (P) £91.00 per 10 lessons (Paired lessons are 2 for 30 minutes, individual 20 minute lesson if no suitable pair) Merit Award (M) £136.00 per 10 lessons (Individual 30 minute lesson for pupils at or above Grade 5 standard)
