Instrumental and Vocal Tuition in Schools
CMS offers: · Low cost introduction to learning through group teaching · Opportunity for pupils to access individual lessons when appropriate · Performance opportunities for pupils in schools · Instruments for beginners to hire at low cost · VAT free scheme for assisted purchase of instruments · Financial support for low income families through 80% remission of fees for pupils eligible for Free School Meals
Instrumental teaching is available for all orchestral and band instruments, recorder, keyboard, piano, guitar, drum kit, Indian harmonium, tabla and voice, from the beginner Sound Start programme to university and music college entrance.
Instrumental teaching in schools may be bought in by schools or CMS can invoice parents / carers directly. A menu of appropriate forms of lesson delivery is possible from large and small group tuition in the early stages to individual tuition.
For continuing tuition where schools are buying in teaching, schools register their requirements by forwarding a termly list of pupils to be taught.
If a school wishes to start new teaching, there should be a discussion with the relevant Assistant Head of Service. Beginners are recruited following a demonstration and recital by the instrumental teacher(s). Full details are in the Schools Handbook for Instrumental/Vocal Teaching. |
