Instrumental and Vocal Tuition in Schools
Teaching Music in Croydon |
The Music Manifesto lays out an ambitious agenda for the future of music education. CMS has worked closely with the DfES, Ofsted and QCA in developing that agenda. We have formulated a strategy for music education in Croydon in consultation with groups of primary and secondary headteachers based on the key aims of the Music Manifesto. CMS is looking forward to supporting schools to deliver that strategy and the opportunities for young people’s music making within it.
Music makes a difference. It plays a vital part in our lives, helping to define our identity. Music in school develops an important way of communicating and expressing emotion. It benefits pupils in other ways too. The physical and intellectual challenge of instrumental / vocal lessons develops pupils’ self-discipline and ability to learn; performing improves pupils’ confidence and self-esteem; enjoyment of music making increases pupils’ motivation and improves attitudes to school, and learning together develops team working skills.
CMS provides support for the music curriculum in schools through training and development courses for class teachers, and through projects and other activities for children, including the nationally recognised SoundStart programme.
Instrumental and vocal tuition in schools is provided by CMS teachers, following quality standards recommended by the Federation of Music Services.
Schools are an important partner for instrumental lessons, and schools commitment is needed for successful lessons to take place, and to help ensure the health and safety of pupils. Supporting music in Croydon, whether as an instrumental/vocal teacher, a class teacher, teaching assistant or music technician, is a rewarding experience. If you have the necessary skills and enthusiasm to help keep Croydon at the forefront of music education in Britain, we would like to hear from you. |
