Teaching Music in Croydon

Support for the Arts Curriculum in Schools

From the creative development area of the Early Years Foundation Stage to the Creative and Media Diploma, there is a need for schools to revise their approach to the arts, in particular to look at collaborations across art forms and the contribution the arts make to creativity and cultural understanding and other areas of the curriculum.

Professional development for teachers in schools is available from Croydon Music and Arts.  Teachers courses, including termly primary and secondary network meetings, can be accessed through the Croydon QDI annual offer to schools.  Contact Croydon Music and Arts for curriculum support through our team of Advanced Skills Teachers and our specialist music staff.

Croydon Music and Arts follows the Croydon QDI Code of Practice for curriculum support and professional development consultancy.

Schools who wish to gain recognition for their arts programmes will be supported in applying for the Artsmark award.  As well as the many performances given by individual schools, the achievements of children and young people are enjoyed in events organised by the Croydon Schools Music Association and Croydon Schools Dance Association.  Croydon Music and Arts organises the Youth Music Showcase at Fairfield each spring and supports an annual festival organised and promoted by young people themselves as part of their Creative and Media Diploma.
