Creative Workshop
10.00am – 10.45am
The Creative Workshop is designed for those in the Croydon Young
Musicians String Orchestra or Concert Band. It aims to develop
musicianship skills which complement a young instrumentalists playing
skills, including activities often required for instrumental
examinations.
This is a predominantly practical class using instruments, also
providing a grounding in music theory to prepare for the Grade 5 Theory
course. There is no charge for students in the CYM String
Orchestra or Concert Band.
Grade 5 Theory
9.00am – 10.00am
This class prepares students for the Associated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music Grade 5 Theory examination. The course normally
lasts for 2/3 terms depending on students prior knowledge. Those
pupils who are ready will sit the exam in the third term. Those pupils
not ready will repeat the course and sit the exam when advised by the
course tutor. Homework is set and marked weekly and students are
expected to attend regularly. Parents/carers are responsible for any
examination fees.
New students to the course should be Grade 4 standard or above on their
instrument. |
